ABOUT US

The Last Prisoner Project

Our team of legal advocates, criminal justice reformers, and policy experts are committed to freeing the estimated 40,000 people currently in prison for cannabis offenses and working towards a more just and effective approach to American drug policy.

Mission and Vision.

As the United States moves away from the criminalization of cannabis, giving rise to a major new industry, there remains the fundamental injustice inflicted upon those who have suffered cannabis-related criminal convictions and the consequences of those convictions. At the Last Prisoner Project we utilize a three-pronged approach to securing FULL freedom for the communities we serve. Through interventionadvocacy, and awareness campaigns the Last Prisoner Project works to redress the past and continuing harms of these unjust laws and policies.

“As a matter of justice, equality and sound public health policy, the federal government must deschedule marijuana, and ensure equity, safety and restorative justice are the foundation of all forthcoming cannabis policy reforms.”
